that breath we hold…..

That breath you’re holding,
the one you’re saving back until
you feel permission
to relax into your place
at the universe’s table,

that breath you suck in tense until the someday when you’ll feel like you’re enough,
where you’re still feeling less than
….can I pass you a note
to that suspended space?

There is something quietly and genuinely significant about you
There’d be a sad, dark hole in this beautiful living canvas
without you.
You’re a fascinating,  custom fit,
particular and priceless by design.

Go look up at the stars tonight,
and see how they shine,
winking and nodding and noticing you back,
the whole inky blackness of the vast night sky
a mat rolled out in welcome
to,  yes,  that would be you.

the universe extended gentle and generous
to affirm you just exactly where and how
you are,
each of your feelings mattering,
each your needs worth meeting,
each of the beats of your beautiful heart
highly prized by the Lover of all wild things

What if you let that exhorbitant Love name your value
and let that breath go.
Stand under the great wide sky all small and mighty and cherished
and breathe all the way down past the dregs of that fear
and embrace it,  your fit and flow

I totally dare you.

“Much of our anxiety and fearfulness stems,  I believe,
from constantly telling ourselves that we’re just not up to facing the world
and all its situations.
Nathaniel Branden calls this “a nameless sense of being unfit for reality.
I’m here to say we’re fit for reality.
Wherever we need to go and whatever we need to do,
we are appropriate for that situation.
We will do just fine.  Relax.”
-Melody Beattie

(thanks for coming around to join me on this little journey
whenever you like
each day this August,
I’m finding some deeper air,  resting me free)

    Brave, beautiful – and true.
Thank you. I may just have to take your dare…

All too often I realize I’m holding my breath and have to consciously release it and make a point of breathing in, out, in, out, just to remind myself. But you are right…standing under a blanket of stars…that always triggers a release of pent-up stress. (I’m enjoying this little journey of yours!)

“You’re a fascinating, custom fit, particular and priceless by design.”

I like that. Custom fit. Were you reading my journal last night??? Your words seem to be a perfect “fit” for what I was writing!

Now to remember to let that breath go… thanks for the beautiful encouragement.

A scene like that can certainly cause one to breath in all they are….

I love these posts Jen, to get us thinking and questioning those places of fear and not good enoughness in us. I read something yesterday that surprised me but makes sense. When we give God our fear what arises in us? Faith, hope yes, but more than that even desire! Our desires begin to surface…ones we have buried or never new we had! Isn’t that something? And I think that’s true. The more I accept God’s love where I am, in my imperfectness and even mess, that I don’t have to fear, I am released to offer what I have…because even in my incompleteness I have something of value to offer…we all do…each and everyone of us are created to offer our uniqueness. Can you tell this so excites me…freedom does that!

    Love you bunches!

Oh how we’ve been duped to stay in the shadows, hidden and masked, when all along we’ve have that diamond glow. There is such sweetness in surrendering ego and owning our trueness, accepting the invitation, the “winking and nodding and noticing you back!”
    So beautiful Jennifer!

Dear Jennifer, I hope that this week, you give yourself permission to breath deeply and relax in your rightful place at the Universe’s table. Fill your canvas with all that is you.

This is so beautiful, Jennifer. This is fitting in perfectly with me doing Oprah and Deepak’s 21 Day Meditation Challenge, too. (Check it out!). We are created perfectly the way we are… I LOVE your poetry and messages. You are a smart smart lady.

Jennifer, I am commenting while on vacation in Greece!! Can’t miss my daily dose of your wise and beautiful words! This post speaks to what so many women struggle with [including me], feeling ‘less than’. Such a waste and shame that we do not see our beautiful selves shining in the world. Your words paint pictures that magnify the wisdom and beauty and truth of your thoughts, and you extend that wisdom to those of us who are fortunate enough to have found you. You have expanded me so much and I thank you. You are poet, philosopher, truth seeker, spreader of love and peace. You really touch my heart.

Twinkle, twinkle little star. Since turning 60, I’ve learned the importance of being a star gazer. Let’s do it together some time.
