drum circle tea….

I love to give
so keeping Christmas
is my passion in it’s glory
but it used to stress me to tears
and stir a sort of performance anxiety
that made Christmas an event to be conquered,
Now,  even with just a few dollars in my pocket,
it is joy

sitting near the flame until love burns  hot
and pours down over creativity,
waiting while it steeps,
and breathing in the steam,
until I’m in love with all these lives
growing in my garden,
and sipping the hot tea of it all
till it warms my belly
and sets my soul to twinkling

Now Christmas becomes like the watering I so enjoy,
a moisture bath of goodness to pour on generous
and oh the peace that settles over me
as I hum and cluck over these sacred spaces,
each beautiful priceless heart.

I feel invited to enter a drum circle
help play the rhythm of heaven
for the heart of someone I love.

Could there be anything sweeter in this whole wide world?

I’m starting my Christmas shopping today.
Yes,  I really did wait this long and usually do.
I’m terrible at holding gifts until Christmas….always end up
giving them early,  bursting with the surprise.
Everything I collect is inevitably gone by December.
So I’ve been tucking my little business
in for the winter,
making the tea,  and I’m  ready to enter the drum circle.

Joy.

I wish you wonder these busy days of preparation.
Be sure to save room for miracles!

    There are miracles
    everywhere
    no special room
    needed
    just the wonder and awe
    you radiate
    as you enter the circle
    your heart
    drumming
    a beautiful tattoo
    of Love.

Blessings on your days of getting ready my friend.

I like your kind of holding the season!

And may your days be merry and bright as well!
Luckily I have now gotten with the shopping in earnest…but I did actually make a few tummy fifty things this year for gifts and found that to be the most fun of all. Like you, I can’t wait to give!

Your words fill me with the joy of Christmas, Jennifer! This is exactly how I feel about it, and long for the time to savor it, so I’ve learned to ignore the things that cause me stress and refuse to follow any ‘rules’. Thank you for this. I’m like you – if I try to buy early, I give early.

You are a very sweet person, Jennifer. Fortunate are those who are part of your life!
Yes, I too used to feel “performance anxiety” before Christmas, but now trust that everything will be fine as long as love guides me in my preparations and gift choices.
I usually read your posts when they first appear on your blog, then take time to think about them and return for a second reading and a comment. Your way with verse is just magical, and your heart is enormous.

you know, the way you write of xmas here, i never experienced
until we had our first white xmas in Canada
then it was like – Xmas makes sense in this climate
not in a suburnt country 🙂

may you enjoy creating and being part of memory-making moments with you and yours

Yes, Christmas used to stress me to tears, too — and generally there is one outbreak before the holiday ends — generally, I think because of grief and anniversaries more than holiday stress, but they mix up together and your resistance wears down. Oddly enough this year I am not stressed. I’m not ahead — in fact, we were on vacation for a week and the stress before at work and after there is the only bit that takes time and mental energy. Here, I am filled with joy to do what I can as best as I can and make sure the most important things are done first. And those include spending time with those I love. And it feels so good!
