of grasses and gold….
The green and grassy fields are browning,
summer’s wild things bursting into seed
and I walk among them now and listen,
the whispering places,
all breezy and waving and whooshing
as Autumn sings her brave songs.
about how there is grace in endings
a re-set to rest,
a keeping sails set
and waiting for winds
that will come
to work their mystery
and somehow they know
there are seeds of life
in letting go
and I stop and let Autumn brush
her golden wisdom
over the clay of me.
because I want to be,
a friend of her unworried ways
and un-driven days
and give her plenty of space
inside this soul of mine
and so I lean in close
to feel what she knows
and off roll some fears
I’ve been keeping
and my care-worn shoulders go calm
and dread slides slowly
slowly
down
into dry grass
and gold.

I used to favor spring. The fall is growing on me lately 🙂 Must be the colors! Enjoy your Sunday!
Wonderful, Jennifer. I have friends who say Autumn makes them sad, but I have always found it exciting! Although I know that winter will follow, I’m just as certain that spring will follow that. The cycle is so beautiful!

I love the golden of fall. It is so often overlooked by the many other color splendors. Something about the golden is settling and comforting. This is a lovely post. Love the feelings you shared of trusting fall to know. Made me feel safe.
Beautiful photos of nature, and art works..the colors are gorgeous!
Feel right at home when I come to your blog my dear. Hugs.

I dig your autumn poem – a never live in fear – indeed.
I will not live afraid. I should print that motto out and post it everywhere. This week I have been living afraid and it is agonizing. But getting better. How could one not with those beautiful images you share.
