the sound of silence
This week has been chock full of change,
just so much jostling, jolting, bustling, bolting,
beautiful, bountiful change
that I’ve scurried to the hub,
the spot on center of me
where my soul doesn’t squeak at all,
deep in the just-being part
where no words ever go,
leaning against the smooth-worn rock
that finds me like a friend
in this room of the house that I am.
It’s otherworldly quiet in here
and soothing shaded,
the silence soft around me like creamy linen
and breeze before rain
and I settle in present
and surrounded
by an unspoken ease
and take it in gentle
…this kind of gift you open slow.
So I’m few of words this week,
just a gentle offer to sit here with me,
still,
in this exquisite quiet
and listen for the things
we just can’t hear enough.
Peace.
Oh Jennifer, Thank you for your very kind offer. I am keeping you company wishing to be able to quiet my mind. Loving the photographs 🙂
i love this house.
this room.
this peace.
being w/you,

Beautiful and peaceful. I love the bee.
a beauty filled place to rest among life’s chaos..have a love ly weekend!!
What a cute little bee!
Peace is such a wonderful gift,
thanks for sharing
Have a wonderful Sunday!
I found your blog to be just what I needed this afternoon, to help me relax and find some peace and colour. It is a grey damp and miserable day here and Italy has had a bad weekend first a bomb and today a major earthquake.
I would love to join you! I’ll go find that room in my house now… (beautiful post!)
Beautiful combination of words and photos. Love it!
Pleased that u stopped by my blog and left your thoughts. LOVE your work here; pristine, bold, ‘candy land’ colors!
when it is silent enough, we can hear the bee sipping nectar from the centre
your words and images are like a virtual bouquet
Such an incredible vibrance here – I love your art!
Oh my goodness Jen that fuzzy bee is awesome. Love the photos you share. They are all inspirational along with your timely message. Hugs to you dear one.
Ah yes. Being still. Hard to do but so worth it. I took time yesterday to be still and watch the clouds drift across the sky. One cloud hung over me shaped like a white soft peace dove. Nature’s message and gift. Be still and listen. Love your post.
joy and peace,
kathy
I so love silence! It took a while, but I learned that He is in the silence.
I think the sound of silence is one of my very favorite sounds.
My Dad has been ranting and raving all day with an uncontrolled anger from his damaged stroke brain, treating my son and mother horribly while I try to cheer them up 100s of miles away. I needed these beautiful words. They struck my heart like an old organ’s deep chord. I re-read it over and over agin. Thank you for your offerings.
I love big fat busy bees
enjoy the inner peace
Oh..I can so relate to this. Yes – sometimes it’s so necessary to simply sit in that silence..to ‘be’.
What a beautifully poetic way to express centeredness, going to that place of peace within us. Yes, in the midst of change and craziness, that’s where I go, too. You have such a gift! I love your word pictures and brilliant photos!
oh Jennifer…so very sweet to visit here again…..My blog went to a new format and I somehow lost you till I switched to Google Reader tonight and there you were along with all your lovely posts I’ve missed these last several weeks…….I have yet to peruse them all but will savor each one as I can….
I truly truly hope you are well, friend…..
life is a little roly poly on my end…..but mostly good…..getting good, I think…..
warmest,
Liz~*
You always cover me with warm fuzzy feelings just like the bee on the flower…..I love the sound of quiet and learning to embrace it more and more……
Oh so beautiful, and happening to be in tune with my feelings these days! My motto is more ‘slow down’ then listening to silence, but it’s the same, isn’t it? Your gentle words have convinced me: I’ll sit down beside you, to just enjoy the breeze and the peace of the moment 🙂
Yes, peace.
And, love.
Much of both to you, dear friend.
to just be…what a lovely place to be!!
your vibrant photographs are beautiful!!
If you are of few words, peace is the best one I know. I’m so very happy you are settled, breathing and in that wonderful spot. A glorious weekend to you!
Jennifer, you photographs are amazing! So happy that I stopped by today…what heaven this is! Have a wonderful long weekend : )

I was here last Saturday when this post first went up, and it moved me so much at the time that I had no words to add.
Love it, love you and your beautiful heart.
xo, Anita
Thank you for the invitation! Yes it is peaceful here in your garden!
Jennifer,
As with you,
lots of changes, and pealing away the layers,
over here in my room.
I’ve been spending less time (oh, that stuff is so precious) at the computer.
It feels so good to share the stillness here with you.
Hugs and light to you
